How long does reconstruction take?
Reconstruction is the final step to the remediation process. Many factors play into how long a reconstruction can take. The factors depend on size of property and size of loss. Most remediation companies will have the reconstruction complete between 1 - 2 weeks. Some remediation companies have requirements to have the process complete within a 10 day period.
What are some factors that can prolong the reconstruction step?
If the area in where the loss occurred is not dried a remediation company can not begin reconstructing. Sometimes the process can be delayed due to specific issues of the loss. An example of this would be a pipe breaking in your upstairs bathroom - this will require a specialist such as plumber.
Sometimes losses can occur in various parts of a home, this will definitely require more time since drying time and rebuilding will occur in multiple areas of your home.
If you are on a time crunch make sure to let your remediation company know. Remediation companies such as SERVPRO of San Diego East work as teams with other SERVPRO companies.
Is there a Loss too Big for Mitigation?
A before and after of reconstruction.
Unless your home or business has completely burned or shook to the ground from an earthquake or flood - we have good news for you - your home is salvageable. Many people are familiar with Chip and Joanna Gaines, they are notorious for buying really botched homes and fixing them up. If you have ever seen an episode of their show you probably noticed that they turn disasters into beauties.
Water damage can be caused by so many scenarios: sewer backup, pipes bursting, floods, rain storms coming through the roof, the list goes on. SERVPRO of Mid-City San Diego has a method in which technicians first extract the water and then dry your walls. Once everything is completely dry the demo process begins. This is where damaged walls or infrastructure are taken down and later replaced, also called reconstruction.
Fire Damage is very similar, the additional step is cleaning soot and making sure all smoke odors are eliminated from the home or property.
If your home has been hit by disaster get your home inspected before calling it a loss, you might be surprised by what can still be saved. There is hope.
If you ever find yourself in any of these situations give SERVPRO of Mid-City San Diego a call at (619) 280-2398 we are open 24 hours 7 days a week.
